As a Pastor for nearly 2 decades, I honed skills of leadership, listening, compassion, encouragement and challenge. For the past 3 years I used those skills learned over a decade to help some amazing people get stronger and feel better as a Personal Trainer at North Star Fitness. After those 3 years it was time for a change and I’m excited to step out on my own, now working out of my own gym, Toews Fitness Studio.
I enjoy running and since High School have run track, road races and in the past 12 years almost exclusively trail races, completing distances up to 120 miles. My most notable finishes include Fat Dog 120, Superior 100, Bighorn 100, Canadian Death Race (125k) and Voyageur 50. I also enjoy many other activities both solo and with friends or family (Colleen, Joshua and Lucas) including disc golf, canoeing, nordic skiing, lifting heaving things and cycling to name a few.
Over the past 4 years, I have worked to evolve as a Personal Trainer and have continued to grow in my understanding of the human body and how it functions. Wanting people to extend their health span into later life, I believe that a combination of cardio and lifting heavy things will help people increase their health span into their final decades. Some of my favourite things include hearing clients talk about playing soccer with their grandkids, carrying tables by themselves back to their friend’s vehicles at 50th High School Reunions, and fitting in to clothing they haven’t worn in years. These are the things that excite me to be the best I can be.
